saw black panther 2
it's probably the best movie out of mcu phase 4, but that's not saying much -- the main pull is that you don't have to watch anything other than the previous black panther in order to understand what's going on in the movie. At the same time, it does still feel like a phase 4 movie, where the gravity of what happens in the movie isn't given time to breathe because it's too busy setting up the next stuff (kang dynasty/secret wars, ironheart, etc.). this is sad, because angela basset, lupita nyongo and tenoch huerta (from narcos) turn in good perfomances.
namor (and talokan, his nation because they didn't want to have him from atlantis) feel a bit like chicano black panther with underwater level music. I get that this was done mostly for plot reasons, but given that that analogy is really all we get in terms of characterization, it feels a bit sad from a representational standpoint.
